Fulford Heath Golf Club has a thriving ladies section that is the envy of many clubs in the area.
Ladies Captain 2019 – Enid Robbins
“I joined Fulford Heath Golf Club eight and a half years ago, having been a member of a couple of other Clubs before finally settling at Fulford Heath. Everyone here was very welcoming and friendly and I quite quickly felt “at home”.
I am proud to say we have a very strong Ladies section within our Club with lady golfers of all abilities. There are numerous opportunities for our Ladies to play in Club Competitions also friendly and mixed matches against other clubs both home and away as well as league matches.
We are an equal status club with no restrictions on playing times although a number of our Ladies get together for golf and lunch on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Just turn up you will always be welcome and get a game.
Last year’s Ladies Captain Gill, chose The Midland Air Ambulance as her charity for her year and I will be carrying this forward to 2019 as I feel this is a very worthy cause that is totally funded by donations.”
Enid is ably supported by Vice Captain Chris Soderman and a hardworking committee:-
– President – Maggie Gower
– Secretary – Angela Jones
– Treasurer – Maria Bagust
– Competitions – Wendy Hocken
– County Rep – Karen Sharman
– Handicaps – Georgina Foxwell
– Immediate Past Captain – Gill Hazlewood
If you enjoy playing in matches against other clubs then again the ladies section has something for everyone regardless of handicap. If you are interested in playing in any of the matches look out for notices on the noticeboard or via Facebook or speak to the organiser of each team.
The scratch team is captained by Louise Parker. Those on lower handicaps tend to play for the Scratch Team which takes part in a league that includes 37 clubs in 7 divisions from Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. The format is singles matchplay.
The Droitwich League is also run by Louise Parker. The Droitwich Inter Club League includes 24 Midlands clubs in 4 divisions all competing to win their division and to go on and compete in the semi finals and hopefully finals at the end of the season. Teams are made up of 5 players who go out in handicap order in singles matches.
We also have a full range of friendly matches against other clubs in the local area. These matches offer those on higher handicaps the opportunity to play in competitive matches but in a sociable environment. The format is greensomes. The match is always followed by a nice lunch afterwards! The friendly matches are organised by Gill Hazlewood.
Carole Fennell organises the Club’s Mixed matches which are played through the season. These are friendly matches played, mostly, on a Sunday afternoon between Fulford and other Clubs across the Midlands or sometimes further afield. They are a great afternoon out playing some good golf with some really good people. Every match is spent in good company and there is a meal to round off the day.
It does not matter if you do not have a partner just put your name on the list to say you are interested in playing in the games and if they can pair you up they will. To know if you are playing keep an eye on the second board on the right as you go into the hall leading to the changing rooms.
