Fulford Heath Golf Club has a thriving ladies section that is the envy of many clubs in the area.
Ladies Captain 2021 – Georgina Foxwell
“I am very excited to be Ladies Captain in 2021. After a very strange year in 2020 when a number of our usual activities were curtailed due to the Coronavirus I am hoping that we will be able to get back to a semblance of normality.
I am looking forward to a year of friendship and fun and lots of golf. To that end we are intending to provide a varied programme of golfing events and competitions with something for everyone. We expect matches against other clubs to re-start and as in previous years we will be playing friendlies as well as Droitwich League and Scratch matches.
I am very proud to be a member of Fulford Heath Ladies. There is a tremendous sense of friendship amongst the ladies and new members are made to feel very welcome. We are truly an equal status club with no restrictions on playing times. I very much hope that this year we will be able to reinstate our Ladies get togethers on Wednesdays and Saturdays when we play golf and continue our socialising over lunch.
The Club Captain, Doug, and I have decided on one charity for the year and that will be Acorns Children’s Hospice.”
Chris is ably supported by Vice Captain Karen Sharman and a hardworking committee:-

If you enjoy playing in matches against other clubs then again the ladies section has something for everyone regardless of handicap. If you are interested in playing in any of the matches look out for notices on the noticeboard or via Facebook or speak to the organiser of each team.
The scratch team is captained by Louise Parker. Those on lower handicaps tend to play for the Scratch Team which takes part in a league that includes 37 clubs in 7 divisions from Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. The format is singles matchplay.
The Droitwich League is run by Maria Bagust. The Droitwich Inter Club League includes 24 Midlands clubs in 4 divisions all competing to win their division and to go on and compete in the semi finals and hopefully finals at the end of the season. Teams are made up of 5 players who go out in handicap order in singles matches.
We also have a full range of friendly matches against other clubs in the local area. These matches offer those on higher handicaps the opportunity to play in competitive matches but in a sociable environment. The format is greensomes. The match is always followed by a nice lunch afterwards! The friendly matches are organised by Georgina.
Carole Fennell organises the Club’s Mixed matches which are played through the season. These are friendly matches played, mostly, on a Sunday afternoon between Fulford and other Clubs across the Midlands or sometimes further afield. They are a great afternoon out playing some good golf with some really good people. Every match is spent in good company and there is a meal to round off the day.
It does not matter if you do not have a partner just put your name on the list to say you are interested in playing in the games and if they can pair you up they will. To know if you are playing keep an eye on the second board on the right as you go into the hall leading to the changing rooms.
